Large funerary statuette (mingqi) representing a peasant, dressed in a long crossed jacket and wearing a flat hat. In his right hand he probably carries a shovel, in his left hand he holds the handle of a sword whose scabbard continues below with an offset caused by a restoration with elements from another statuette of the same type. A knife is also attached to the belt. China, Sichuan. Late Han/Eastern period (25-220 AD). Restorations. 85 cm. A comparable example in the Guimet Museum (MA 5877), cf. the exhibition catalog Chine des origines, hommage à Lionel Jacob, éditions de la Réunion de musées nationaux, 1994, n° 68, p. 168-169.
