Series of 8 volumes, 6 in-4°, 2 large in-4° for the atlases in a uniform binding at the end of XVIIIth, very beginning of XIXth in half brown basane, smooth spines, with gilt garland for the false nerves, gilt fleurons interspersed, red morocco title-pieces, green morocco for the tomaison, spotted yellow edges. Dry leather, some spotting and rubbed headbands. Modern geography. 3 volumes, Volume 1: XIX pp.- 776 pp. Volume 2: fx-title title, 760 pp. Volume 3: fx-title 812 pp. 4 folding tables. Body of the book very correct, tear on the first endpaper of volume 3 Ancient geography. 3 volumes, Volume 1 fx-title 1 folding table- XVI pp.- 756 pp. Volume 2 : fx-title 750 pp. Volume 3 : fx-title 724 pp. Body of the work very correct, bookplate engraved but torn off on some volumes, a name in pen on the back covers "Gonidec". Encyclopedic atlas containing ancient geography, and some maps on medieval geography, modern geography. Volume 1 : Some pen drawings on the reverse of the frontispiece and on the reverse of the first map. Frontispiece of the ncyclopedia title 65 pp. 77 maps. Volume 2 : from plate 78 to 140 plus one 102 bis. Brown stain in margin of plates 100 and 101. Pagination error. Collated and complete, in accordance with the table of engravings which mentions the same pagination errors. Quite rare set; one often finds the geography on one side and the atlas on the other, this set was designed to "complete" the encyclopedia of Diderot and d'Alembert, which in spite of its 11 volumes of plates does not contain geographical maps.
