KATYA SHECLOVA (Moscow, Russia, 1983). "Reflected Heart, Ulia", 2021. Acrylic and oil on canvas. Signed and dated on the back. Size: 135 x 100 cm. In this work the artist presents a triple portrait, starring the same person. This aesthetic treatment of the portrait leads us to a conceptual understanding of the work, which awakens questions such as identity, personality and the different emotional facets that define the same person, but also this multiplicity in the same portrait shapes a degree of dynamism and movement, giving the piece a narrative discourse in which the artist manages to introduce the concept of space and time in a two-dimensional support. Technically, the artist masters a language of realistic aesthetics, showing great detail in the use of matter, which is reflected in the face of the protagonist. Katya Sheclova is an artist with a career spanning more than ten years, who harmonises her facet as a painter with her career as an actress. Her series includes "Kids Of the World", a work in which she combined some 100 portraits of children. Her artistic work is defined by the use of a figurative language, with a great interest in capturing the portrait, resulting in a great technical mastery of the portrait genre. In her own words the artist states that; "My works are abstractions that look like portraits".
