Only edition of this beautiful festive book celebrating the marriage of Louise-Elisabeth of France and Philippe de Bourbon, second son of Philippe V of Spain, on August 26, 1739. The festivities took place on August 29 and 30 on the artificial island built by the Italian architect Servandoni, in front of the Louvre between the Pont-Neuf and the Pont Royal, in front of the Collège Mazarin and the Hôtel de Ville.
The illustration includes a vignette by Bouchardon on the title, a large header vignette depicting La Joute de la Seine engraved by Rigaud and 13 plates and plans, 8 of which are double-page, engraved by Blondel after Bonel, Gabriel, Sallet and Servandoni. (Cohen 288; Vinet 519.) A fine copy, with a few discreet old restorations to the binding.
