Autograph signed on the false title :
To Léon Hennique
His devoted
Emile Zola.
Naturalist novelist and dramatic author, Léon Hennique (1850-1935) was part of the group that composed the Soirées de Medan, with Alexis, Céard, Huysmans, Maupassant and Zola, one year after receiving Mes haines. Hennique published L'Affaire du grand 7. It was another affair, that of Captain Dreyfus, that was to separate him from Zola, whose commitment he did not share.
