CASTELNAU (M. de). LES MÉMOIRES DE MESSIRE MICHEL DE CASTELNAU, seigneur de Mauvissière. Illustrated and augmented with several Commentaries & Manuscripts, as well as Letters, Instructions, Treatises, and other Secret & Original Pieces, [etc.]. P., Pierre Lamy, 1659. Two volumes in-folio, blond calf, double gilt fillet on covers, spines decorated with gilt caissons and fleurons, gilt title and tomaison, speckled edges (Period binding). Spines cracked and split, light marginal spotting and a few pages uniformly browned. SECOND EDITION, the first given with comments and supporting documents by Jean Le Laboureur. The original edition of 1621 does not contain the genealogies inserted in this edition. BEAUTIFUL full-page PORTRAIT of Jacques de Castelnau, son of the author, engraved on copper by Nanteuil, title vignette and more than 300 BLASONS engraved in the text (some colored in pencil). Missing the portrait of Michel de Castelnau engraved by de La Roussière, which is normally found in two states. From the libraries of Prosper Falgairolle and P. Guiraudi (armorial bookplates). ¶ Saffroy, III, 37980 - Grand Larousse du XIXe, t.
