[BOULAND (Ludovic). THE RULERS OF THE WORLD. Plates. [etc.]. In-4 Italian style ivy green chagrin, boards decorated with a triple gilt fillet and stars in the corners, with arms stamped in gold in the center, spine decorated with irons with crowns, gilt title, gilt edges, decorated endpapers with notably the initials "L" and "B". (Binding end of XIXth). Darkened spine. HERALDICAL COLLECTION probably composed at the end of the XIXth century by the French physician and bibliophile Ludovic BOULAND (1839-1932). It is composed of 20 engraved plates taken from the first edition (1718, Guillaume Cavalier) of F. L. BRESLER's work entitled Les Souverains du monde. Following are added some plates from a Wappenkalender published in Nuremberg by the engraver Christoph Weigel (1654-1725) and photographic proofs of the Koenigsegg coat of arms, an engraved proof of the coat of arms of the kingdom of Spain, those of Philip V and Elizabeth Farnese, those of Beauharnais, those of Baratinski, those of Pius IX and those of Emperor Maximilian (notes by L. Bouland at the head of the volume). All plates have been carefully mounted and interfoliated. A handwritten note mentions the existence of 4 volumes of text which accompanied this atlas and which are missing here.
