LARGE MARBLE VASE with grapevines 17th-18th century Grey-veined white marble H. 141 cm, Diam. 86 cm This monumental vase of Roman inspiration is adorned with high-relief sculpted vine branches, friezes of Greek and gadroons. Its decorative vocabulary is reminiscent of the great antique vases that adorned the Italian homes of the greatest art connoisseurs in the 17th and 18th centuries (fig. 1). Ours is supported by a gadrooned foot, slightly turned in a spiral. The end of the vine stems outline the shape of the handles.
