It is a collection of 241 varied thoughts, around women, love, jealousy, authors, titles of nobility, politeness, beauty, feelings, wigs, trade, booksellers...; some concern dinners, the table of the rich, liquors.
- CORNARO: viii and 157 pp. and (1) f. The first edition of this famous work appeared in 1558 in Padua, in-4, followed by numerous reprints and translations. One of the recommendations for a long life of the centenarian Italian hygienist Luigi Cornaro (1467-1566), a descendant of Venetian Doges, is to avoid drunkenness and gluttony; he thus explains the influence of food on the humours.
