Very rare first edition of this treatise on the running of a noble house in the middle of the Grand Siècle. The first part gives the regulations imposed by the prince of Conti for his maîtres d'hôtels, coachmen, postilions, etc.; in the second part, one chapter is devoted to the intendants, another to the kitchen officers.
Claude Fleury (1640-1723) was the tutor of the princes of Conti, of the count of Vermandois, natural son of Louis XIV, and of the grandsons of Louis XIV. He is the author of an important Histoire ecclésiastique (1691, 20 vols.).
