Round brown tortoiseshell box mounted in 18K (750) gold chased with interlacing, the lid inlaid with a presumed oval miniature portrait of the Dauphin Louis-Charles de France, future Louis XVII (1785-1795), aged about 4 years, in a pigeon's throat costume possibly for the mourning of his brother Louis-Joseph de France (1781-1789).
