Box; France, second half of the 19th century.
Gilt bronze and miniatures in gouache on vellum.
Lacking crystals.
No key preserved.
Measurements: 12 x 15 x 13 cm.
Small oval-shaped bronze box with a recoco aesthetic design. The box is structured in a gilded body, decorated with a filigree of vegetal ornaments arranged on the outer perimeter of the base and on the body. The body is further decorated by a rhythmic succession of oval spaces that contain gouache portraits painted on vellum. The portraits alternate in such a way that the effigy of a woman is followed by that of a gentleman. In addition, between the space created by each portrait in relation to the next, there is a loop in relief from which a garland of flowers hangs. The lid, joined to the body by a hinge, has the same design, although in this case the portraits do not alternate the presence of the ladies and the hair, and also culminates in the centre with a large palmette.
