Yellow gold, piriform set with emerald roots and rubies, decorated with pearls, interlacing and arabesques. Chased on the back.

A Gem-set drop-shaped gold fibulae, North of Morocco, 19th century
comprising a central glass cut gem, within a border of pink rubies and green emeralds with an openwork foliate panel.
Gold fibulae were extremely rare and were usually triangular. They were used as in classical times to hold draped upper garments in place.
