Condition: several restored fractures, repaints and iridescence. H. : 17,5 cm ; W. : 60 cm ; D : 4,5 cm There are very few tiles from the Ayyubid period and this frieze with fleurons is a rare example. See for example the article by Venetia Porter and Oliver Watson, "Tell Minis wares", in: Syria and Iran.Three Studies in Medieval Ceramics, Oxford Studies in Islamic Art (OSIA), IV, pp. 175-248 and more particularly the dishes with metallic lustre painted decoration, cat. A39, A40 and A52, pp. 230-31, or a dish with incised decoration, cat. B9 p. 238. Expert L.S.
