Flemish School early 17th century Hilly Landscape with Carts and Peasants on a Sandy Path around 1600 Oil on copper panel. 8.7 x 13 cm. Monogrammed lower left: I [?]. Provenance Collection of Konstantin Somonov & Alexander Benois, St. Petersburg. – Private collection, Berlin. – Auctioned by Christie’s, Amsterdam, 15th-16th November 2016, lot 95 (as Circle of Jan Breughel I). The author of this small, finely painted landscape on copper was clearly inspired by the work of Jan Breughel the Elder as well as by Peter Paul Ruben's painting "The Stalled Carriage" from 1610 (State Hermitage, Saint Petersburg).
