Augustin-François Desmoulins was a history painter, executing works in a troubadour style as for many drawings of this album or in a "historicizing" style as for the paintings he realized for the museum of the History of France at the Château de Versailles. He lived at 33 rue d'Hauteville in Paris and exhibited at the Salon from 1819 to 1845. He was awarded a medal in 1822.
