The present painting, that depicts the Madonna who is crowned by angels with her child, was recognized by Anna Orlando as an early work by Stefano Danedi because of the image carrier (wood panel), specific reoccuring figures, the structuring drawing, and the distinct contrasts between light and shadow that hint at the 1630s. In the past, the work was believed to be by Francesco Cairo, who, together with Morazzone, was one of the reference masters whom Danedi took his inspiration from in his early phase.
