Description: Consisting of coffee pot, milk jug, sugar bowl and pastry bowl. Each on a small round foot with a bulbous body and flaring rim. The wall decorated with plastic relief of flowers and fern leaves. The rim with flat flower relief. All pieces bear the owner's engraving "Kate W. Bigbie Lynchburg Va".
Measurement: Height of the pot 22,5cm.
Mark: Fineness 925, maker's mark.
According to the engraved inscription, the coffee service was owned by Kate Bigbie of Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1888, Katherine (Kate) Withers married the entrepreneur William Bigbie, who ran a wine and spirits business in Lynchburg with his brother. Bigbie Brothers & Co. was known for its Old Velvet whisky.
