An Islamic mortar
Golden yellow cast bronze with copper inlays, engravings, remnants of red pigment, and verdigris. Of tapering form with protruding base and rim. Decorated with rows of lotus bud reliefs and a row of rhombus motifs alternating with calligraphic inscriptions in cartouches. With some dents around the rim, the base slightly concave due to usage. H 13.2, D 17.2 cm, weight c. 4.7 kg.
