An Islamic mortar
Engraved cast bronze with silver damascene, the brownish golden patina almost entirely obscured by verdigris. Of tapering form with a protruding base and rim. Decorated with bands of mouldings and calligraphy. H 10.3, D 13 cm, with pestle, weight with pestle c. 2.9 kg.
