Hendrik Frans Van Lint (circa), Italian harbor capriccio with palaces.
Oil on copper. (Circa 1730). 11.8 x 29.5 cm. Framed.
View of the harbor entrance of an Italian coastal town with numerous sailing ships gliding along on the shallow crests of the waves. In the haze of the distance appears silvery shining a magnificent palace complex. Such small-format vedute were popular souvenirs for travelers on the Grand Tour, the educational and pleasure trip on which mainly young aristocrats from England and the northern continent were sent.
