Antonio LUCARDA (1904-1993). Gilt bronze bust representing Princess Elizabeth Chavchavadze, born Ridgway at the age of 43. Signed and dated 1946 and located in Venezia. Beautiful neo-classical circular plinth in green marble. Provenance: Princess Elisabeth Chavchavadze Palais Polignac Venice, Countess of Hélène de Breteuil, Jacques Peltzer family collection. Madame Elisabeth de Breteuil and her husband tragically perished in a car accident in Burgundy in 1962, they were exhumed in the Ridgway vault in the Passy cemetery. Antonio Lucarda, painter and sculptor active in Italy in the middle of the 20th century and particularly in Venice, was one of Princess Chavchavadze's relations. She owned several works by the artist, acquired from him or received as gifts. Total height: 31 cm. Bronze height: 17 cm.
