Trained at St. Martins School of Art in Fashion Design, Sara Freegard has worked for over 30 years creating costumes for Martin Gore's world tours. During this long collaboration, Sara sought to establish a connection between Martin Gore's musical creations and his stage performances. Through her conception of the stage costume, the garment became an artistic medium. The garment complemented Depeche Mode's musical universe, the visual and sonic aspects becoming one. From the 1990s to 2010, the designer sought to celebrate and blend the English punk heritage with the synth pop style of Depeche Mode. Her creations have become the culmination of a universe of their own, that of space punk. The "dark sexy side" of Depeche Mode.
