The German manufacturer Hermann Mackenstein settled in Paris in 1872, at 23 rue des Carmes, where he opened a cabinet making and photographic mechanics business. His cameras are known for their great precision and the quality of their materials.
Varnished mahogany chamber, copper elements, French-made E lens.
Black leather bellows, restored.
Mother-of-pearl plate on the top marked "H.Mackenstein, constructeur, 23 rue des Carmes, Paris".
Numbered 10 004 on the lens.
