Note:
Simplice Somi Nzuayaya, A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, Somi has developed a career marked by multiple national and international exhibitions. The artist declares "my painting is the expression of a soul that wants to free itself through its creativity. With his own language, he draws simple lines that he fills with bright colors associated with volume. His style is both figurative and abstract, realistic and surreal, always leaving room for the dreamlike imagination. He feeds on different universal currents without losing his Africanity. The present work is a perfect illustration of this by its African recycling of Arcimboldo and its still lifes with anthropomorphic fruits and vegetables.
