The ebony handle carved with scales, the brass frame richly chased and gilded, the pommel with three stars and acanthus leaves finished by a lion's head, the body knot with "RF" surrounded by antique trophies of arms surmounting a Gorgon's head, the guard with a branch finished by a lioness head, the curved blade with rush engraved with a crescent moon and a horse harnessed gilded, the scabbard with gilded brass trimmings finely chiseled, the bolt with long acanthus leaves and arrowheads interspersed, the end provided with an openwork iron sting forming a scroll.
