NASA. Rare. Superb view of the lunar ground photographed by the RANGERS 7 space probe a few minutes before its crash on the lunar ground. The RANGERS missions were developed between 1961 and 1965 in order to prepare the arrival of the Man on the Moon. It consisted in sending space probes to the Moon intended to crash on the lunar ground. The probes before their impact realsaient photographs of the lunar ground as well as various parameters of flight. The whole was transmitted on earth in analogical form to be then translated in the form of silver photographs. Each probe was equipped with a small on-board photographic laboratory which developed the photos taken before scanning them and sending them in radio form to Earth. Ranger 7 is the first American space probe to successfully transmit close-up images of the lunar surface to Earth. July 31, 1964.period silver print. 25,3 X 20,6CM with margins.
