A Paris, chez P., Emery, 1708-1715. 5 volumes in-4, contemporary homogeneous tan calf binding, spine with 5 nerves, title-piece, ornamented caissons, gilt arms on the boards, gilt roulette on the edges, speckled edges (qq. defects of which a lower board faded with worn corner, stains on the boards of another volume, qq. rare pale wetnesses).
Set of 5 volumes (out of 8 published) of this important commentary of the Vulgate by Dom Calmet: L'Exode et le Lévitique (1708, with a folding engraved map). - The Maccabees (1712). - Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs and Wisdom of Solomon (1713). - The XII Little Prophets (1715). - The Ecclesiasticus (1714).
Provenance: Charles Le Goux de La Berchère (1647-1719), bishop of Lavaur, then archbishop of Aix, then of Albi, and finally of Narbonne (binding with his arms); Souville " chanoine et archidiacre " (old label glued to the titles masking an earlier ms. bookplate).
