BINDING. PERRAULT (Charles) : Les Hommes Illustres qui ont parus en France pendant ce Siècle, avec leurs Portraits au naturel. Paris, Antoine Dezallier, 1696, two volumes in one, large infolio, brown calf, spine with six very ornate nerves, title-piece in red mar, boards decorated with a very large external lace framing a large central diamond medallion, edges gilt. Presented in an exceptionally decorated binding; it includes 101 engraved portraits and their biographies. This is an appendix copy of the 1st edition since the portraits of Arnaud and Pascal and their biographies are well in place and there is no frontispiece. The portrait of Du Fresne appears at the end of volume 1, the portrait of De La Fontaine and his biography are missing, minor binding defects.
