Writing case sheathed in green leather, opening with two flaps revealing a mahogany box, one of the flaps forms a pocket, the other receives utensils such as: quill, stamp and letter opener. A storage space contains a penholder and an inkwell. The top is monogrammed "UM" or "VM" below a ducal crown.
Bears a label "Alph GIROUX, 43 Boulevard des Capucines à Paris". (damaged lid, wear, traces of moisture, one compartment blocked)
