ARCHITECTURE CARTUSCH WITH FRUIT FESTONS, HOLY JOSEF AND JESUS CHILD Oil on canvas. Doubled.
85 x 66.5 cm.
In gilded Louis XVI frame.
We thank Fred Meijer for the kind information regarding the attribution of the painting.
Symmetrically arranged trompe l'oeille architectural cartouche with high-oval center. In it polychrome painted Joseph moving towards the foreground of the picture with the baby Jesus in the midst of a suggested landscape. The cartouche is lined with plastic-looking fruits such as grapes, pomegranate, apples and nuts, all with a salvation-historical interpretation. Painting style typical of the aforementioned painter and still-life symmetrical arrangement. Rest.
Note:
The painter is best known for his tasteful still lifes of fruits and flowers tied as wreaths. (13006615) (13)
