PICTURE OF A PRINCIPAL LADY Oil on canvas. Doubled. 124 x 92 cm. Framed. Attached an expert opinion by Didier Bodart, April 15, 1998, with several comparative examples regarding attribution as well as for closer identification of the portrayed. Three-quarter life-size portrait, the lady standing to the right in front of an undefined gray-green background with green velum on the right. Her left hand resting on a table-like object, her right resting against her body, her sleeves and fingers playfully grasping her long descending pearl necklace. Over her richly gold-embroidered doublet gown, a dark mantilla with a cross-shaped diamond and pearl pendant at the shoulder. She wears a richly designed long descending necklace set with gems, pearls and diamonds with a large pendant in the manner of a medal necklace. The collar raised, in the manner of silver embroidery, in the hair a crown-shaped hoop with pearls. The medium-brown hair finely combed, twisted into small close-fitting curls at the front, a fashionably refined curl at the forehead. On the ear a pendant with three drop-shaped pearls. Face and hands with finely painted incarnate parts in the highest quality painting style, which corresponds to the claim of the client. Rest. (Background possibly unified in color).
