HALF PICTURE OF A YOUNG MAN WITH SHORT BEARD AND FLAT CAP Oil on wood. Doubled.
41.1 x 35.5 cm.
The bust portrait against almost emerald green background with shadowing. In the right half of the picture the young man, darkly dressed with appropriate cap over side half-length straight-cut hair. A short white pleated collar emerges from the doublet. The right arm in the cloak cloth lets the hand protrude, with a ring on the little finger. The painting shows characteristic features of painting by Ambrosius Benson (c. 1495-1550) and can be easily compared with other portraits by this master.
