MARY WITH THE CHILD AND THE HOLY BARBARA Oil on wood.
56 x 43.5 cm.
In textile covered wooden frame.
Seated figure of Mary turned to the left, whose child seems to float above her lap - only just she touches it with her hands, so that the child's hold seems motivated by another force. To the left of the group, St. Barbara with open book and richly decorated hair plaster, backed by a round tower, which is attributive to her and at the same time gives the picture its rare spatial vista. The present painting, although reminiscent of works by Bernard of Orley, is certainly to be given to a master in his circle, especially with regard to the faces and the ideal bridge of the nose. Rest.
