CHRIST ON THE OIL MOUNTAIN Oil on wood. 33,5 x 23,5 cm. In decorative frame with gold painting After the Last Supper, Jesus goes accompanied to the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives to pray alone. While Christ kneels near some tall trees in a long brown robe, his hands slightly raised and his gaze directed to the evening sky, behind him lie his disciples accompanying him Peter, John and James the Elder, who have fallen asleep. In the background on the left, a path leads to a wooden gate in which some figures can be seen. In the distance, a large city with towers and church, surrounded by mountains, entirely in blue-gray coloration under high sky first yellowish, then becoming dark blue. Narrative rendering that strictly adheres to the biblical text. Striking the colorful and detailed wrinkled reproduction of the robes of the three disciples and the praying Christ. Retouching.
