Automobile / Prehistory / Paris-Marseille-Paris / Michelin / Landry / Beyroux. Original photo probably of the Paris-Marseille-Paris race of September 1896. Triply historical: a) for this race, the longest for the time with 1728 km (average of the victorious Panhard and Levassor: 25km525; b) on our photo appear the vehicles 34 (Lefebvre), 26 (Landry and Beyroux), and 39 (Michelin, pilot Arnaud), but the last two will finish 13th and 14th!c) The picture of the Michelin vehicle is unknown, and the 26 Landry and Beyroux (1894-1902, Passy) is also historical for being involved in the first fatal automobile accident in a race (May 1, 1898, Périgueux-Bergerac-Périgueux, dc of the Marquis de Montaignac). Extremely rare.
