Léautaud gives his opinion on the book of his friend Roger Karl (1882-1984) entitled Madame Arnoul which he published under the name of Michel Balfort and which appeared in 1942. "Your story is very well done, very interesting and of great relief (...) It is a success (...) I will not tell you that it is in the absolute, completely pleasant to read. We all have more or less memories of this kind, distant or recent, and I had, in your last pages, some small reminders of pinch in the heart (...) "
