Superb tablecloth in lace of Venice and Burano, needle, Italy, 1st half of the twentieth century. Entirely realized with the needle this tablecloth is a perfect example of these superb productions of the north of Italy which lasted throughout the twentieth century and whose know-how results from three centuries of lacemaking tradition in Italy, recognized as one of the most qualitative in the world The decoration of this tablecloth is structured by an elegant composition of leafy branches in convolutions punctuated by flowers in full bloom, some of which are reworked in relief in the spirit of the Italian Point de Neige of the late seventeenth century, the various motifs linked by a network of large stitches, and embedding cartridges with baskets full of flowers and ribbons tied or characters in the antique on a network of Burano mesh. Cotton of ochre color. Dim. 2,50 m x 83 cm. (good condition, never used, some foxing by place)
