On the first blank page a handwritten note in Latin signed and dated 1636 and stamped under paper (almost faded). Contemporary fawn calf (snagged upper cover), double framed with fleurons, stamped in the center "Jesus Maria" in gold crown, spine with fleur-de-lys. Handwritten bookplate on title page. During the Renaissance until the XVIIth century, the Ethiopics was considered as a great epic work of Antiquity, which reminds the Odyssey. Racine was inspired by it
