The Triumph Trident is the last «true» classic British motorbike. At the beginning of the 1970’s, the Twin is at the end of its development, and the Americans, big customers of the venerable British firm, are looking for more power, and start to turn to the Japanese. They had to react! The 3-cylinder engine had been under study since the early 1960s, based on the historic twin. In the memory of a mechanic, we have never seen an engine with so many joint plans! If the first version suffered from a rather dated 4-speed gearbox, the T150V, which appeared in 1972, corrected the situation with a welcome 5-speed gearbox. The T150 was replaced by the T160 in 1975. The T150 promises, as its name suggests, a top speed of 150mph, and no doubt the bike on these pages will be able to take its future owner there. Like the other bikes in Mr B.’s collection, the engine has been completely rebuilt, as have the chassis and fittings.
