Vladimir Markov, painter and art theorist. He was one of the first theoreticians of Russian avant-garde art, notably in his treatise "La Facture" of 1914, and traveled throughout Europe to list works of African art in ethnographic museums; he is also the author of a work on the statues of Easter Island.
