MECHED-TURBAFF (IRAN) AROUND 1930. Silky lambswool velvet of kork quality on a cotton foundation. Density of about 7,000 knots per dm2. Raspberry field with scrolls of fine branches crenellated ivory surrounded by stylized flower palmettes polychrome, framing a very large central rosette poly-lobed crown of starry flowers royal blue decorated with floral bulbs in the form of stylized diamonds. Four spandrels with decor reminiscent of the central rose window, with reserves of multicolored flower buds. Eight borders of which the main one is royal blue with reserves and cartridges inlaid with floral boxes in polychrome. 580 x 442 cm Good general condition. Decor reminiscent of the famous Ardabil carpet exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
