Large double in-8°. Publisher's full percaline decorated in violet. Veuve Fernandez & Cie bookbinder and author of the plate. White edges. Pale blue endpapers. No mention of the title or year on the spine and on the first cover. We thought for a long time that this attempt to present the new series of the Magasin under purple percaline, a color inherited from the previous semi-annual cartonnages, had remained a dead letter, the choice of red having to be imposed. We now know that there are several others, one for 1896, and, especially, for 1906 (see next lot). Spine slightly faded. Endpapers split. Otherwise, a fine copy. Provenance: Weissenberg Collection.
