Marius Joseph Saïn (1877-1961) Haïn Rugada, Arab shepherd Bronze with medal patina Signed " M Saïn ". Bears the circular stamp of the founder JOLLET et Cie Bronzier Paris H. 36 cm Born in Avignon, pupil of Antoine Injalbert and collaborator of Félix Charpentier, Marius Joseph Saïn made his debut at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in 1903. After participating in the Salon de la Société Coloniale in 1910, he received a grant that allowed him to travel to Algeria and then to Greece from where he drew models in an orientalist vein. At the 1911 Salon, he exhibited two plaster casts which were followed by bronze prints with vibrant patinas by the Maison Jollet et Cie, entitled Aïn-Regada, jeune berger arabe and Aziza, jeune fille nomade.
