Infantry Grenadier award rifle, lock with front... Lot 139

Infantry Grenadier award rifle, lock with front drum and marked "Manufacture à Versailles", the selected wooden stock bears a silver shield engraved with foliage and inscribed "The First Consul to citizen Fauvart fusilier à la 46ème demi-brigade de ligne à la bataille de Hohenlinden. He took Major General De Spannochi prisoner". Carries on the barrel the words "Entreprise Boutet". Silver fittings, some of which are stamped. Small dent above the lock on the right. Very good condition. Major General De Spannochi commanded during the Battle of Hohenlinden the Grenadier Corps Eichler (IR 3/35/50), Grenadier Corps Wouvermanns (IR 9/30/58), Grenadier Corps Tegethoff (IR 20/22/29), Grenadier Corps Shulz (IR 42/49/56) which made up the Kolowrat Division (source: histoire-empire.org).
