Forty-eight soldiers, China, mid-19th century Folded fan, the double sheet of paper painted on one side with a confrontation of forty-eight soldiers, and two horsemen riding white horses. All wear silk clothing and an ivory head* in relief. The reverse side is painted, in shades of pink, with birds among flowers framing a terrace scene. Symbols of happiness on both sides. Black lacquered bamboo mounting with gold decoration of garden scenes animated with characters. Bracket.
