Important correspondence entirely devoted to his literary activity during the years of occupation, in which we find the names of his writer friends: René Lacôte, Pierre Bettencourt, Jean Paulhan, Max Jacob, Paul Éluard, Pierre Barbezat, Gaston Ferdière, Louis Guillaume, José Corti, Gisèle Prassinos, etc. and authors he admires like Raymond Roussel and Kafka. In a letter dated February 24, 1944, he recalls the arrest of his friend Max Jacob, the same day. "Max was arrested this morning. I wrote immediately to Cocteau and Salmon. I hope that our friend will be released very quickly".
