LARGE COVERED VASE WITH SUNFLOWER DECORATION France, end of the 17th - beginning of the 18th century Campan Grand mélange marble; gilt bronze H. 100 cm, D. 50 cm This covered vase with large gadroons on a pedestal and a square base presents a beautiful ornamentation of chased, gilt bronzes, decorated with acanthus leaves, sunflowers and laurel garlands. The grip is in the shape of a seed. It is built in three parts carved in a marble Campan Grand mélange with veins of white calcite, green micas and cherry limestone as well as veins of secondary calcite with serpentinized ferromagnesian minerals.
