FLAMBOYING DRESSER France, part of the 15th century Carved oak; iron Posterior base H. 161.5 cm, W. 107 cm, D. 52 cm This dresser with cut sides presents in its upper part a rich flamboyant decoration carved with bellows, flyswattles, lanceolate arcatures forming a dense network of lines decorated with florets and fleurons. It opens to a door equipped with a lock with a hasp and fittings at the top and bottom. The side panels, carved in orbevoie, bear two crowned shields, one with the arms of France and the other with a pelican. The belt houses a drawer whose front is decorated with a frieze of hearts in quincunx between two uprights on culots. The whole rests on a lower floor of later period very sober, with full back and molded base. Our furniture is characterized by the variety of its ornaments and the quality of its sculpture which draws a lace of openwork wood on the sides of the upper body.
