First edition of this bilingual biography, German and French, followed by the complete catalog of all the woodcuts made by the artist from 1891 to 1897. The work is illustrated with 54 woodcuts by Félix VALLOTTON, 51 of which are reproduced on 43 leaves at the end. The engraving in the frontispiece, repeated on the front of the first leaf, as well as the last one, are original engravings made for the book.

Binding in very poor condition, with numerous scratches and losses at the corners and especially at the spine which has been partly torn off. The hinges are completely cracked. The interior remains in very good condition.
